CHRIST IS BORN

Image
CHRIST IS BORN [Welcome Light.] Standing on the pinnacle, I could see... The earth, gusting through the winds in a crispy weather. Living creatures from different vicinity assembling in the dark earth as they await the light of the world. What a great joy of advent. O yes, I can see... The Sheep in their flock, The cattle in their herd, The birds in their volery, The bees in their colony,  The fish in their school, Singing joyfully as they dawdle to Bethlehem, the holy city of Jerusalem. O yes I can see from afar, People of different race gathered in the holy city, singing in a mellow tone. Joy to the world, their carol reads. The redeemer of humanity is born, bringing light to the world. O yes, I can see... Baby Jesus, surrounded by livestock, In a manger lies my saviour, how humbly he choosed a homestead. Come! Come! Let's adore the king, sings the animals. O yes I can see... The mother of the redeemed humanity and her most cherished spouse, Joseph bearing the Child Jesus ...

Star, DEAR FRIEND

Image
Star, DEAR FRIEND... What an altruistic creature you are, twinkling all night long in the dark sky, making vision possible for me in the hours of darkness. Aloft, your magnanimous nature lights up the planet Earth,  Meekly assembling all night to reveal those glimmering lights. In dark hours, I have light  At midnight, I have light  Light coming from you. How kind you are to humans, friend. At no time did I reciprocate the favours you granted me, Yet, twinkle twinkle you keep sparkling. At seeing you, the children gather rounds in joy, knowing that a wholesome friend has arrived. A brother to the Sun you are. A brother to the moon you remain. Cherished friend, hope you send my hello to my other friends. Dear little star,  I hope to pay you a visit one-day, Sleeping in such a bright bosom like a new born, forgeting all my worries. Till then, dear friend, never seize you gratifying light. Love from a friend.  Poet: © Chukwunnabuikem Ugochukwu     ...

A BROKEN HEART

Image
A BROKEN HEART Like a driven snow, my heart remains pure. Singing softly at sunrise, drumming warmly by the day, Swaying rhythmically at sunset But not after I found love, a fake lover indeed. Love is indeed a great weapon but a dangerous one to any who took an imposter as lover. All day long, I remain restless thinking about those fake friends of mine who claim to be lovers but are haters in reality. Looking through the mirror, in transparency of my skin I see my heart broken like a jar in stream of blood, Without any consolation my heart bleeds. With a tearful eyes, I see an imaginary face of those sadist, rejoicing over my sorrow as they walk about in search who to deceive, those little ones are their target. Love imposters they are, with melancholic heart. Obviously they succeeded in breaking my heart but I pray no one falls victim again. They seem to taken away my happiness  But did they ? No! My joy lies in me, I'm the fount of my happiness. With a brawny spirit, I wil...

A CRY FOR JUSTICE

Image
A CRY FOR JUSTICE In broad daylight, the sun went down on the mountain, the weather glowered as tears trickle down the heavens in a still wind.  The birds of the air had returned to their roost and the animals back to the wilds in grief.  The aquatics had gone deep down the seabed  and the rock badgers back in the cliff all in mourning. The jungle was still as though there was no wind to whirl the trees around and the Earth as calm as a millpond as it gyrates swiftly. Then from the wilderness came a foggy squawking voice which no one could discern, but being perceptive, I was able to understand as it pronounces: A mother bird has lost it chick. A dignitary life has been cut short. A blameless soul has gone beyond the veil. The wickedness of man... Then from the other direction came another strange voice, crying and weeping in bitterness. Its signal, no one could understand as the voice seemed to have been enfolded with sorrow. Listening attentively, I could hear him say: ...

A NEW BEGINNING

Image
A NEW BEGINNING  Having spent all days with obstinate friends, drinking and smoking all around the ghetto, little did I know I was wasting my life. And now I'm ready, To make a new beginnings,  I am ready! Having wasted a better part of my time, Catching some Useless fun, ganging up with bunch of nincompoops as i laze round the street in display of my idiocy, forming 'bad guy' as people seems to be petrified even in my ignorance. Now I'm ready,  To drop my wayward lifestyle, I am ready! Having spent a supposed useful time, sleeping and dreaming as I watched my mates painstaking to attain greatness, Now I'm ready To make amendments, I am ready! Suppose I was told that lost time is never found again Suppose I was told that time is wealth when used properly  Suppose I was told that success doesn't come in a platter of Gold, My days wouldn't have been this futile. But now... Having known that sometimes too late is just in time,  I will return back to my root ...

THE DEAD NIGHT [Prose]

Image
THE DEAD NIGHT    A Prose Late that Night, I woke up only to find myself on a pallet under a tree, gazing up to the sky the Moon was almost red with inestimable stars gleaming around. Looking around, I could see nothing but what seemed like a fiend, flapping and warbling with its creepy voice.  The entrance door which was always, appears to have been moved farther away as I was quaking in my boots. My mouth seemed to have been glued together as I couldn't call for help. My heart was already in my hands with my legs swallowed up. All I could hear was the creepy voice of those demon calling on me, probably to take my life.  Saying to my self... "I have always heard such horrific stories as this but never lived by them"  Do I belong to them ? I asked my self No!, Said a strange echoing voice. Then I must resist my foibles and liberate my self. Earth seemed to be in gyration as the Evil voice kept calling names. No! I do not belong to you, I screamed as I sto...

PRICE FOR FREEDOM [Poet]

Image
PRICE FOR FREEDOM Like a sojourner, I did wander In search of a safe place. I've been ambushed by familiar enemies My misdeeds, I do not know  Like a lost sheep, I dawdled Searching for shelter.  For I've been surrounded by predators waiting to consume me, My misdeeds I do not know. Perhaps, I should never have been born Perhaps I should have turned a blind eye When my brothers suffered And cried for help Then maybe I wouldn't have witnessed the day When the sun withdrew it's light And sand on the Earth clogged together Saturated with the life of my brothers Nobody said freedom came at a price No one said our rivers would turn red and turn salty No one said to free our children We'd have to make them orphans.   ©  Chukwunnabuikem Ugochukwu               & ©Dee'pen     30/11/21
